The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a heat advisory for 40 counties in the state.
Meteorologist Vivek Mahale said the heat advisory is in effect from noon on Tuesday through 7:00 PM on Wednesday.
"You basically need to take extra precautions, if you work or spend time outside," Mahale told KTOK.
"Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and drink plenty of water" Mahale said.
The heat advisory is for most counties in central, northern, western and southern Oklahoma. Most of eastern Oklahoma is not included in the advisory.
