Tate Publishing Arrests

The father and son who run Tate Publishing in Mustang were arrested Thursday and charged in Canadian County District Court with embezzlement, extortion and racketeering. A judge set bond for Ryan and Richard Tate at $100,000 each. They were charged after an investigation by the State Attorney General's office, which received more than 700 complaints from authors or musicians who contracted with Tate Publishing and Tate Music Group and did not receive the products or services they purchased. Through the course of the investigation, the Attorney General's office says agents discovered that money derived from the sale of publishing books or music were deposited into business checking accounts, then transferred to Ryan or Richard Tate's personal checking accounts.
