Vandalized School Will Not Be Closed

Oklahoma City School Superintendent Aurora Lora announced Monday that she will move forward with staffing North Highland Elementary School for the upcoming school year. She says the school, located at 8400 N. Robinson, will welcome students on August first. She initially recommended the school be closed, saying it was in 'crisis' and that drastic change was needed to improve the negative culture. She says students will be offered the option to transfer to neighboring schools with space. Vandals broke into the school over the week-end and caused major damage to classrooms, hallways and office spaces. The vandals smashed windows and equipment and splattered paint on walls.
