Kirk Franklin will be speaking on behalf of the American Heart Association about stroke risk and prevention on Jan. 13 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

It’s not a concert … more of a get-to-know Kirk session where he talks about stroke risk and heart health and music, too.

African Americans have some of the highest blood pressure numbers in the world and very high stroke rates, so we are trying to target this population especially. However, 1 in 3 Americans … of all colors … have high blood pressure and may not know it. It’s called the Silent Killer. And high blood pressure is the No. 1 risk factor for both heart attack and stroke. So clearly, Kirk has a message that affects everyone.
