Have you heard about The HUGS Project?

Our mission is to place a "Hug" (cooling tie) around the neck of every American military member serving in the Middle East.  This is a nationwide ongoing project begun in June 2004 in Edmond, OK by Karen and Ray Stark.

We want our troops to know that they are fully supported & that they are NOT forgotten. We’re a group of men, women, boys & girls who are dedicated to sewing & sending evaporative neck & head coolers to our troops in the "sandbox." Cooling ties are simple to make but the benefits are dramatic; they lower body core temperatures by 7+ degrees and have helped save lives.

Each week we send 50-100 CARE packages with items that are difficult for troops to get. We ship an additional 5,000 special Christmas boxes every year.  Between June 2004 & the present we’ve sent over 1.4 MILLION “Hugs,” approximately 280,000 books and more than 748 TONS of care packages to Americans serving in harm's way.

Many troops live on bases with no place to buy “luxury” items like socks & coffee!

Donations from patriotic people like you make this project possible!!!

The Hugs Project is a 501 C 3 non-profit which has NO salaried employees; we are all volunteers.  Your tax-deductible donations help our troops in harm’s way.

This Tuesday January 15 we have a great opportunity to help The Hugs Project help our troops even more.  If you eat at the new Top That! Pizza in Spring Creek Village, 1389 E. 15th St, in Edmond, 20% of the receipts from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m. go to Hugs.  You have to put your receipt in a collection box which will be by the cash register.  It also counts if you order online during that time and pick up your order, as long as you put your receipt in the box.  I think it’s really neat to order online because you can see the calories, fat, sodium, etc. in your order – if you are interested.  The food that I have eaten there has been very good, including the “PieLite Pizzas.”  To order online, visit http://topthatpizza.com/order_online.html.  In addition to pizza, they have some good “Signature Eats” – chicken or meatball bakes.

Please spread the word.  I have attached two flyers: one is a Top That! Pizza flyer with info on the date, time, and location; the other provides general information on The Hugs Project.  If you’d like to print them and post where you work, etc., that would be great.  I’ve also attached a menu from Top That! to help you plan ahead!

Hope to see many of you at Top That! Pizza on Tuesday!  And, as always, please remember to keep praying for all of our service men and women.
