Oklahoma City police say their self-defense training course is suspended while the death of a police recruit is investigated.
Police Captain Dexter Nelson says he can't remember a time when a recruit died during a police academy...
"People get hurt in the academy all the time. I got hurt in my academy. But, never to this extent where it results in a death."
Captain Nelson says several other recruits saw the maneuver used on 38 year old Kelley Chase on Friday right before he was injured and they all said there wasn't enough force to cause a deadly injury.
