He's in serious condition now...the man who allegedly pulled a knife on police officers, lunged at them, and was shot yesterday afternoon on the southwest side of Oklahoma City.
It happened when officers were called to an area near SW 59th Street and Walker Avenue, where they found the suspect, 35-year-old Jerry Ray Pierce, wandering around in the middle of the street.
OKC Police Capt. Dexter Nelson tells NewsRadio 1000 KTOK that when two officers tried to get him off the street, Pierce apparently pulled a knife on the officers and lunged at them.
The officers fired and the wounded Pierce was taken to a local hospital where Capt. Nelson says he's in serious condition.
Capt. Nelson adds that Pierce, who has had prior arrests including one involving charges of assaulting an officer, will face charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
