A bill by Democratic Representative Richard Morrisette of Oklahoma City calls for the use of goats from Langston Univeristy, for the eradication of Eastern Red Cedar trees. The trees are said to absorb a significant amount of water, causing problems for ag producers.
Morrisette's bill brought some teasing and laughter on the floor, including comments by fellow Democratic Representative Kay Folyd of Oklahoma City.
"Would you consider amending your bill to allow for the shooting of Red Cedars from helicopters?"
The bill also would allow prison inmates on work release to help in clearing the trees.
It passed 73 to 11 and is going to the Senate.
