Two suspects are in custody at this hour following a pursuit where an Oklahoma City Police officer fired his weapon apparently in self-defense after a suspect allegedly drove a vehicle toward the officer during a traffic stop.
It began when 50-year-old Sgt. Don Majors and 25-year-old Officer Dustin Fulton conducted a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Everest Avenue on an apparently stolen vehicle.
Inside the vehicle were 24-year-old Adam Shells and 21-year-old Heather Kinnison. Police say that as Sgt. Majors and Officer Fulton approached the vehicle, the driver drove the vehicle toward them in an aggressive manner and one of the officers fired in self-defense as he moved away to avoid being run over by the vehicle.
The officers pursued the apparent stolen car until Shells and Kinnison stopped the car near NE 19th Street and Kelly Avenue and fled on foot.
They were captured a short while later.
No word, yet, on any possible charges on Shells or Kinnison and police officials now say neither officer will be placed on administrative duty
