It was not a happy Easter Sunday evening for a couple of families after fire raced through two houses on the southwest side of Oklahoma City last night.
The first fire happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of SW 28th Street near Western Avenue.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house.
Fortunately, the family inside was able to make it out safely.
The initial report indicates significant damage to that house. The cause of that fire remains under investigation.
A second fire also damaged a house on the southwest side of the metro.
This one in the 2400 block of SW 89th Street near Penn Avenue.
A woman inside the house was apparently pulled from that structure by a neighbor or passer-by. The woman suffered minor smoke inhalation injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
No word from firefighters on the extent of damage to the house.
Early reports indicate that even though the cause is not known at this point, firefighters believe the blaze started in a bedroom.
