Former assistant state school superintendent for financial services Jack Herron of Norman announced Wednesday that he is officially a candidate for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. He is a Democrat. He says education is in turmoil in Oklahoma and we need someone who can get education back on track. "I believe we can do three simple things to start to move education forward in Oklahoma," he said. "We have to pay our teachers more, we need to give control of school districts back to their local communities and we need to focus on science and math. I have the broad and unique experience to do that."
