Ground is being broken, or rather tilled, at a new garden for the Oklahoma County Jail. Sheriff John Whetsel says inmates will work the garden, which will grow potatoes and onions. "It's a way of keeping some produce costs down for the jail. I think (the inmates) are really pleased that they're seeing progress with what they do with their hands." Inmate Michael Lee says "They asked me for suggstions, and I said plant bell peppers. But, it's the wrong time of year for bell peppers!" Whetsel says planting should begin next month. The garden is located next to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office Midwest City substation, on Southeast 29th Street near Midwest Boulevard.
