A bi-partisan task force made up of lawmakers and state agency heads are discussing which state tax credits are benefitting taxpayers, and which are actually wasteful and can be cut. The panel's looking at tax credits for historical preservation projects and insurance companies. "Some of them have purpose," panel chair Representative David Dank of Oklahoma City said. "Some of them have controls. Some offer jobs and economic incentives, others don't." A number of lobbyists appeared to speak at today's discussion. House Minority Leader Scott Inman says Democrats want to cut wasteful spending, and idea supported by several Republicans. The task force will make recommendations for the Legislature to consider during next year's session.
