A vegetable garden on the property of the Oklahoma County Social Services is helping feed some low income seniors. Program Director Christi Jernigan tells KTOK the garden beds are raised so older people can easily tend to the vegetables. "A person in a scooter-type wheelchair can easily navigate the entire garden." She says there are volunteers of all ages, even some ex-gang members. "They need to know how to function outside of that gang structure," Jernigan said. "I learn everytime I talk with them." Jernigan said as of this week, the garden's produced about 230 pounds of fresh vegetables, which are given to low income seniors throughout Oklahoma County.
