Sliced watermelon was served to staffers and visitors at the State Capitol today, as part of a promotion for the upcoming Rush Springs Watermelon Festival. "It's the festival's 67th year," Representative Joe Dorman said. Watermelon Queen Amanda Bewley helped serve the sliced melons. "Drink plenty of water. It's going to be hot," Belwey said. "There's a carnival, seed-spitting contest and lots of family entertainment." The Rush Springs Watermelon Festival is set for Saturday, August 13th, at Jeff Davis park.
